Abstract Expressionist artist
Willem de Kooning
has long been celebrated as one of the most
influential painters of the 20th century. While
renowned for his spontaneous gestural style, de Kooning's
paintings were in fact the result of intensive labor,
long contemplation and continual reworking.
The exhibition exclusively examines the wide
variety of technical procedures the artist employed
during his long career. Featuring 20 paintings and 8
drawings, many of which have never been exhibited before.

the field of modern American art. Approximately 100 oil paintings
and watercolors, and pastels, will trace the artist's development

with great vigor and inventiveness.

Islamic Metalwork from the Nuhad Es-Said Collection

This exhibition presents twenty-seven inlaid brass bronze, and steel
objects dating from the tenth to the nineteenth century. An in depth view
of the history of inlaid metalwork from its inception in Iran and
present day Afghanistan and Uzbekistan to its later development in
Syria, Egypt, Iraq and Anatolia (present-day Turkey) are catalogued in
this finest collection.
